Eight, maybe nine folks living under one roof. Two parents, two children, two grandparents, two quadriplegics. Three kitchens, three laundry rooms, six bathrooms. One giant experiment in multi-generational living. The house is under construction, but the gang’s all here.
And the breakdown:
Mama :: Introverted Buddhist social worker. Stay-at-home mom. Lover of dancing skeletons, cherries and goats.
Baba :: Half Chinese, half Indian. High-tech but harmonious. Born Catholic in Canada, but he’s an apple pie and Buddha type of guy.
Jie Jie (“big sister”) :: Extroverted people watcher, talker and lover of all things bright pink.
Mei Mei (“little sister”) :: This little one has a mysterious Mona Lisa smile. Loves beans, dancing, and saying “hi” to chickens.
Madi (grandma) :: Buddhist artist, storyteller. Winner of board games and raffles. When she laughs she cries.
Popi (grandpa) :: Ferrari-owning Scotsman. His hardware knowledge (and his generosity) is unparalleled.
Uncle K :: Computer artist. Atheist pirate. Can’t use his arms or legs, but he can still whistle a tune.
Mr. A :: Scholar, activist, photographer. Metro bus rider extraordinaire and organizer of quadripalooza.
